Katedra św. Jana Chrzciela na Ostrowie Tumskim
Katedrę wrocławską zbudowano na wyspie odrzańskiej. To tutaj wzięło swój początek miasto Wrocław. Pierwszą katedrę gotycką z cegły wzniesiono tutaj w XIII wieku. Na zdjęciu widok Katedry z 1920 roku. Ostrzał Armii Czerwonej w 1945 roku zniszczył Katedrę oraz olbrzymie obszary otaczjącej ją architektury. Ostrów Tumski (Dominsel)
An island on the Odra River where Wroclaw as a city actually began. The centerpiece of this area since around 13th century has been a massive, Gothic cathedral, shown here in a 1920 photo. The Red Army bombardment in 1945 destroyed the interior of the cathedral and vast sections of the surrounding architecture. 75% of the cathedral was gone.Move the mouse pointer over the image to see a 1945 view.
